Face masks are a wonderful addition to any skin care routine, but most conventional ones can be quite expensive, and even filled with chemicals that can do more harm than good.
Thankfully, making natural face masks at home is not only less expensive, but really dang good for your skin! I’ve made honey & sugar exfoliating masks, deep cleansing clay masks, and even vitamin C masks, but one of my other favorites is the matcha green tea mask.
Among many other health benefits, Matcha green tea is known for its high antioxidant content, which makes it a perfect anti-aging face mask to help reduce wrinkles, detox, and clear up skin.
Matcha Green Tea Face Mask Recipe
Here are two super simple recipes for a matcha green tea mask that you can make at home. If you’re already drinking matcha green tea, then you’ll have the powder on hand, but if not, you can buy matcha powder here.
Oily/Normal Skin Mask
- 1 tsp Matcha Green Tea Powder
- Few drops of Water or Aloe Vera Gel
Mix together the matcha and a few drops of water, or aloe vera, in a non-metal bowl until you get a paste-like consistency. Apply to the skin in circular motions, making sure to avoid the eye area. Leave mask on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.
Dry Skin Mask
- 2 tsp Matcha Green Tea Powder
- 1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil or Almond Oil
Combine matcha and oil together in a small non-metal bowl. Consistency should be thick, but spreadable. Apply to the face, avoiding the eye area, and leave mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
